According to the bible in Genesis chapter 26, there was a famine in the land, besides the previous famine during the time of Abraham, and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar, and the Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, but live in the land where I tell you to live. God further told Isaac to stay in this land for a while, and He (God) will be with him and bless him and his descendants, and confirm the oath He swore to his father (Abraham), who obeyed God and did everything God required of him.
Every blessing from God has a time and place attached to it, and there are three main ways God can speak to you concerning your direction, plan, purpose and blessings of your life. God can ask you to specifically to go somewhere, or not to go or just let you decide. As Christians, we have to know how God speaks to us concerning our place and time of blessing. Which ever way, there is a cost to it and obeying God’s instructions in your life.
3 Major things would happen to you at your obedience of God’s instructions;
1.You become a ridicule: When Abraham left his hometown, it was based on God’s instructions and the general thinking was that why did he have to leave when the place he was in was already good – with live stock and so many servants. Abraham faced a ridicule as he obeyed God and moved out of his hometown.
2.You face a future of uncertainty: when God speaks to you, there may be uncertainties at the initial stage, but if you stand on the word of God and on what God has told you, success and victory is for sure.
3.You face a life of risk: Despite a life of uncertainty, risk is also involved. When we venture out, based on the what God has told us, the risk is high and we do not know what to face or how things would turn out.
4.You face loneliness: In some instances too, you are lonely. as people around you would leave you to your own fate.
As the church of God is marching on, there are things that would be naturally expected of the members of the church – one of which is loyalty. Loyalty with your time, speech, faith, finances, talents, family members and other things.
There is also gain in your obedience to God. One of the major gains of obedience is that God would be open to your cry and would meet you at the point of your needs.
